Anahola Build Back Better
Anahola Build Back Better Report
A Community-Led Vision for Disaster Resilience
The Anahola Build Back Better Report shares community-based ideas for strengthening disaster preparedness, recovery, and long-term resilience in Anahola.
How This Report Came to Be
Following lessons learned from Hurricane Iniki, the 2018 North Shore floods, and growing concerns about climate change, the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program partnered with the County of Kauaʻi to support pre-disaster recovery planning across Kauaʻi.
As part of this effort, Anahola participated in community-based redevelopment scenario planning to help identify local priorities before the next major disaster occurs.
ʻĀina Alliance was honored to serve as a local community partner, helping connect residents, support community engagement, and encourage action around disaster preparedness and resilience.
This report reflects the collective work of community members, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and planning professionals committed to preparing Anahola for future disasters.
